Calling all Wildcats. Whether you still live in the Lexington area, or you’ve moved away since you’re time as a University of Kentucky student, there are some certain sentimental landmarks around campus that you’re sure to remember. Here are 11 University of Kentucky photos every UK grad will definitely recognize immediately. There are a ton to choose from, but here are our favorite 11!
1. The Amphitheater
Located behind Memorial Hall, most UK grads know this spot as a great place to gather on a nice spring Kentucky afternoon.
2. Memorial Hall
This classic, iconic building is of course so beautiful in the daytime, but if you ask me, it is even more beautiful when it’s lit up at night.
3. Alumni Drive
We didn’t even have to try to find a photo of construction! If you’ve ever driven around Lexington, this is a a very familiar site.
4. W.T. Young Library
A relatively new addition to the campus (it opened in 1998), but it’s a striking building that anyone has seen visiting the campus (for a Wildcats game, perhaps?)
5. Rupp Arena
Every Wildcat who bleeds blue needs no introduction to what is easily the most important building in the state of Kentucky. The boys in blue do us proud!
6. The Funkhouser Building
If you were a student at the University of Kentucky, then I would be dollars to donuts that you stepped foot in this building at least once (and probably much, much more.)
7. Margaret I. King Library
The very first library on the UK campus! It’s a little lesser known now that the Young Library is open, but this wonderful building houses a lot of memories for generations of UK grads. (And some of you probably know you should have spent some more time in there!)
8. Commonwealth Stadium
This stadium seats over 67,000 UK football fans. If you haven’t done a tailgate and game in a while this is a great year to come back. Autumn in Lexington is beautiful.
9. Kirwan-Blanding Towers
You can see these towers from almost anywhere on campus. They served as the north star for a lot of students over the years.
10. Barker Hall and Buell Armory
This may be one of the lesser know spots on campus, but it’s still one of the most beautiful (and one of our favorite) buildings for students.
11. Memorial Coliseum
The house that Rupp built! While Rupp Arena gets a lot of glory we wouldn’t be the powerhouse we are today without this beautiful building. Love it!
